%T The Pederin Family: A Synthetic Overview

%X A comprehensive synthetic review of the pederin family of cytotoxins, including pederin, the mycalamides, and psymberin, is presented. A number of approaches to the synthesis of these molecules is covered, including pederic acid, the tetrahydropyranyl ring of pederin, the trioxadecalin ring of the mycalamides, and psymberin fragments. Coupling strategies for these compounds are also summarized. An overview of biological activity at various positions of mycalamide A, as well as some analogs, is given.
