Sulfate (SO42-) anions were found to bind to a charged amide-amine macrocyclic compound (PyEAmNH3+) in DMSO. (Dr Bowman-James and Dr Kang, University of Kansas). In this work, (PyEAmNH3+) is covalently attached to a PCCA to forms an intelligent polymerized crystalline colloidal array (IPCCA) which would sense SO42- . However, we have demonstrated that our IPCCA did not bind to sulfate anions, rather the IPCCA response is due to the change in ionic strength and pH. date: 2006-06-29 type: University of Pittsburgh ETD type: PeerReviewed format: application/pdf language: en identifier: http://d-scholarship-dev.library.pitt.edu/7283/1/Sirikaresylverethesis2006_1.pdf identifier: Sirikare, Sylvere N (2006) FABRICATION OF PHOTONIC CRYSTAL AQUEOUS SULFATE ANIONS SENSING MATERIAL.
