description: Sexually transmitted infections are a public health concern affecting a large portion of the population of Mongolia, and STIs put an unnecessary strain on the Mongolian health system. Many of these infections are preventable, and with the concerted effort of public health officials and local public health workers, the burden of sexually transmitted infections in Mongolia has the potential to be lifted by application of the Social-Ecological framework in consideration with the cultural, environmental, and population factors of public health significance that have a major effect on health and health decision making. These factors must be addressed when developing effective, sustainable prevention and treatment response through a focus on treatment and practice, policy, and education for sexually transmitted infections in Mongolia.
