Small-scale reactions are effectively promoted by the standard second-generation Grubbs-Hoveyda catalyst (GH-II), while a new fluorous GH-II catalyst is used for separation and recovery in gram-scale reactions. The transformation is featured in a rapid synthesis of the bottom fragments of the potent anticancer agents (-)-dictyostatin and 6-epi-dictyostatin. © 2007 American Chemical Society. date: 2007-01-04 date_type: published publication: Organic Letters volume: 9 number: 1 pagerange: 5 - 8 refereed: TRUE issn: 1523-7060 id_number: 10.1021/ol062017d other_id: NLM NIHMS63824 other_id: NLM PMC2535931 pmcid: PMC2535931 pmid: 17192071 mesh_headings: Catalysis mesh_headings: Esters--chemical synthesis mesh_headings: Esters--chemistry mesh_headings: Macrolides--chemistry mesh_headings: Molecular Structure mesh_headings: Solvents chemical_names: Esters chemical_names: Macrolides chemical_names: Solvents chemical_names: dictyostatin citation: Moura-Letts, G and Curran, DP (2007) Selective synthesis of (2Z,4E)-dienyl esters by ene-diene cross metathesis.
