The CBS reduction of acetophenone proceeded rapidly, in high yield and in high ee in the absence of any organic solvent. The organic product was stripped from the HFE-7500 phase with a polar solvent, and the HFE-7500 phase was reused "as is" with satisfactory results through eight runs. This process is an attractive prototype for the large-scale use, recovery, and reuse of fluorous organocatalysts. © 2008 American Chemical Society. date: 2008-03-06 date_type: published publication: Organic Letters volume: 10 number: 5 pagerange: 749 - 752 refereed: TRUE issn: 1523-7060 id_number: 10.1021/ol702778v pmid: 18269287 mesh_headings: Combinatorial Chemistry Techniques mesh_headings: Ethers--chemistry mesh_headings: Fluorine Compounds--chemistry mesh_headings: Molecular Structure mesh_headings: Oxidation-Reduction mesh_headings: Pyrrolidines--chemistry mesh_headings: Solvents chemical_names: Ethers chemical_names: Fluorine Compounds chemical_names: HFE-7500 chemical_names: Pyrrolidines chemical_names: Solvents chemical_names: prolinol citation: Chu, Q and Yu, MS and Curran, DP (2008) CBS reductions with a fluorous prolinol immobilized in a hydrofluoroether solvent.
