Abstract

Narrow intense resonances in the photodetachment spectra of the valence-bound anions of several polar molecules were observed. The experiments showed that molecules which support valence-bound anion states may also exhibit features characteristic of dipole-bound anions. This paper considers the diabatic coupling terms between dipole-bound and valence-bound negative ion states of nitromethane.
